Tiffin, Ohio – February 3, 2010 – The Heidelberg University women’s basketball team dropped a 61-39 decision to Baldwin-Wallace College. The Berg falls to 4-16 overall and 3-10 in the OAC, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 16-4 and are 12-1 against league foes.
Baldwin-Wallace came out of the gates strong and took a 10-0 lead in the first seven minutes of play.
However the Berg would narrow the lead and go on a 7-2 run, including senior Stacey Richard (Galloway, Ohio / Central Crossing) finding junior Jenny Miller (Tiffin, Ohio / Clyde) for a quick two inside the paint.
The Yellow Jackets would go into halftime leading 30-14.
Heidelberg would battle back and would cut into the lead, but the point margin would be too much for the Berg to overcome as the Yellow Jackets would capture their 11th straight.
For Heidelberg, Richard, Miller, and freshman Casey Bishop (Orrville, Ohio / Orrville) each had six points. Bishop’s six would be her career-high and she also racked up three rebounds. Freshman Jordan Ickes (Wooster, Ohio / Triway) and junior Naji Williams (Lorain, Ohio / Clearview) contributed with four points each.
On the glass, Miller and senior Betsy Shrider (Mount Blanchard, Ohio / Riverdale) led with five rebounds apiece. Shrider also had a team-high three rejections. Junior Kristen McConkey (New Carlisle, Ohio / Tecumseh) provide great effort off the bench and brought down four boards on the night.
