Tiffin, Ohio – January 30, 2010 – The Heidelberg University women’s basketball team fell to Ohio Northern University, 75-48. Heidelberg drops to 4-15 overall and 3-9 in the OAC, while the Polar Bears improve to 12-7 and are 7-5 against league foes.
Ohio Northern had a 29-13 lead with four minutes left before halftime. However, Heidelberg would go on a 9-2 run, which included junior Jenny Miller (Tiffin, Ohio / Clyde) finding senior Stacey Barker (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City) for a three-pointer with two minutes left.
The Polar Bears would go into halftime leading 33-23.
In the second half, Ohio Northern would shoot 60% (15-25) from the court compared to Heidelberg’s 32% (8-25) and it would be too much for the Berg to overcome.
For Heidelberg, Barker led the team with 10 points. Backing Barker was Miller and sophomore Lyndsey DaVault (Orrville, Ohio / Orrville) who each contributed with nine points.
Senior Alyssa Esposito (Brecksville, Ohio / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) scored seven points, while senior Stacey Richard (Galloway, Ohio / Central Crossing) had five points to go along with three rebounds.
Miller led the team on the glass with six boards.
Heidelberg is back in action when its hosts Baldwin-Wallace College, Wednesday, February 3 at 7:30 p.m.
