ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Heidelberg University volleyball team dropped their final OAC regular season match on Friday night at the University of Mount Union, 24-26 25-19 26-28 25-14.
Marian Bevington (Celina/Parkway) led Heidelberg with 16 kills in the losing effort. Amber Welfle (Norwalk/St. Paul) and Jacki Street (Grafton/Midview) added 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
Rachel Ferguson (Brighton, MI) had 24 assists, while Alexa Frank (Tiffin/Calvert) dished 11.
Tessa Benanzer (Ft. Loramie) led the defensive effort with 29 digs.
The loss drops Heidelberg to 17-12, 5-4 in the OAC.
Heidelberg’s seed in the OAC Tournament will be determined by the outcome of Saturday’s match between Baldwin Wallace and Marietta. If Baldwin Wallace wins, Heidelberg will finish fourth and would host the Yellow Jackets in the quarterfinals. If Marietta wins, Heidelberg will finish fifth and would face the Pioneers.
‘Berg Volleyball will remain in Alliance for two matches on Saturday against Carnegie Mellon and DePauw. The non-conference games will be the final tune-ups before the postseason.
