Sandwiched between two tough weekend tournaments, Tuesday night's OAC-opening volleyball match against Wilmington could have been overlooked by Heidelberg University's volleyball team.
Could have.
Jason Miller's team did not overlook the Quakers, as they swept the host 3-0 (25-12, 25-6, 25-17). Sophomore Kristen Zumberger (Sidney/Fort Loramie) led the way with six service aces, a career high.
Senior Jacki Street (Grafton/Midview) had ten kills to lead Heidelberg (10-3) and classmate Rachel Ferguson (Brighton, MI) had ten assists.
Stephanie Romie (Anna) had a nice night near the net, as she registered three solo blocks and four kills.
All of the healthy Heidelberg players saw time on the court.
"It was great to get everyone out there tonight," said Miller. "It's good momentum as we head to another tournament outstanding competition."
Heidelberg Volleyball will play four games at the Gargoyle Classic, hosted by the University of Chicago. On Friday, the Student Princes will take on Scranton and Trinity Christian. On Saturday, Carthage and the hosts, Chicago, will be the opponents.
