Leaders in the Classroom Again

Austintown, Ohio – November 17, 2010 – The Heidelberg University volleyball team not only leads the Ohio Athletic Conference on the court, but they also reign at the top in the classroom. This season the Berg had five student-athletes earn Academic All-OAC honors, which marks the third consecutive season they have had the most selections.

Returning to the Academic All-OAC team for a second season is senior Brittany Donelan (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted). Donelan will graduate in May with a degree in accounting.

Joining Donelan is Jackie Reinhart (New Riegel, Ohio / New Riegel) and Venessa Haase (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) who was an honorable mention selection a season ago. Reinhart is pursuing a degree in middle childhood education, while Haase is studying sports management

Rounding out the list are sisters Suzy Street (Grafton, Ohio / Midview) and Jacki Street (Grafton, Ohio / Midview) who earned a spot on the honorable mention team. Suzy will be graduating in May with a degree in business, while Jacki will be continuing her education in biology.

The OAC faculty representatives selected the academic-award winners based on the students grade point average and contribution to the team. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least her second year of participation in the sport.

For the first time in school history, Heidelberg swept the trophies in OAC play, winning the regular season and the tournament. The Berg ended the season with a single season record of 33-6. Heidelberg also made their fourth-straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Regionals.
