Austintown, Ohio – October 25, 2010 – Sophomore middle hitter Marian Bevington (Celina, Ohio / Parkway) led the Heidelberg University volleyball team to a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference title last week and for her efforts has been tabbed the OAC Player of the Week for the week of October 25, 2010. It is Bevington’s first player of the week honor for her career and she marks the second ’Berg honoree in 2010. Joining Bevington as player of the week selections is Venessa Haase (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) for the week of Sept. 13.
In a 2-0 week for Heidelberg, who ranks 14th in the nation, Bevington led the team with 25 kills in 53 attempts with five errors for a .377 attack percentage. She also added a team-best eight blocks.
On Tuesday, in a sweep of host John Carroll University (25-8, 25-23, 25-20), Bevington tallied 11 kills, to go along with three blocks and two digs.
Over the weekend, Heidelberg traveled to Marietta College and posted a 3-0 (25-8, 25-10, 25-21) win to ensure at least a share of the OAC title finds a home in Tiffin this season. Bevington led the team once again, tallying 14 kills in 30 attempts with just three errors. At the net she recorded five blocks.
