Lexington, Ky. – September 21, 2010 – Junior outside hitter Jackie Reinhart (New Riegel, Ohio / New Riegel) of the Heidelberg University volleyball team has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. This marks the first time Heidelberg has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week award.
Reinhart earned the award after propelling the Berg to a perfect 5-0 week, including four wins at the highly-competitive Wittenberg Border Battle. Reinhart totaled 58 kills, 76 digs and 15 aces during the five matches and notched three double-doubles during the span, which included victories over then-no. 4 Calvin, then-no. 25 Concordia (Minn.) and then-no. 6 Hope.
Against Calvin, Reinhart contributed 15 kills, which ties her career-best, and 13 digs, while torching the Knights for six aces. She amassed 13 kills and 14 digs against Concordia, and she had an eight-kill, 29-dig, five-ace outing against Hope.
For the week, Reinhart averaged 2.90 kills and 3.80 digs, while earning a spot on the Border Battle All-Tournament Team. Her 15 service aces moved her into the top-five all-time for a career at Heidelberg.
Earlier this afternoon the latest national poll was released by the AVCA and the Berg jumped to 11th. This is the highest that the program has ever been ranked. Heidelberg stands at 12-2 overall and open up Ohio Athletic Conference play tonight against Wilmington College.
