'Berg Fights Back to Take Raiders in Five

Tiffin, Ohio – October 15, 2010 – The Heidelberg University volleyball team remains on the top of the Ohio Athletic Conference with a comeback victory over the University of Mount Union.  The Berg fell in set one 22-25, but bounced back to win the next two 25-17 and 25-23. The Raiders came out on top in set four 20-25. In set five, Heidelberg was down 9-5 and came back to post a 15-13 win to end the match. The win improves the Student Princes to 24-3 overall and 6-0 in the OAC, while the Raiders fall to 16-7 and 3-2.
 
As a team, Heidelberg ended the night teaming up to have 69 of its 72 kills assisted. Leading the Student Princes was Marian Bevington (Celina, Ohio / Parkway) with a career-high of 18. Adding depth offensively was Venessa Haase (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) with 17, Jacki Street (Grafton, Ohio / Midview) with 16, and Jackie Reinhart (New Riegel, Ohio / New Riegel) with 13. Haase and Street each tied their career-highs for kills.
 
The Berg also had eight blocks on the night. Amber Welfle (Norwalk, Ohio / St. Paul) and Bevington led the team with four each.
 
Setter Rachel Ferguson (Brighton, Mich., Brighton) led the team with 51 assists, backed by Alexa Frank (Tiffin, Ohio / Calvert) with 14. Both setters led the team with two aces apiece.
 
Defensively, libero Brittany Donelan (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted) led the way with 32 of the teams 97 digs. Reinhart and Haase posted another double-double with 23 and 16 digs, respectively. Suzy Street (Grafton, Ohio / Midview) also contributed six.
 
Heidelberg will return to action on Tuesday, October 19, at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio. The OAC match-up begins at 7:00 p.m.
