Tiffin, Ohio – August 20, 2010 – Earlier this week the Heidelberg University volleyball team,under the direction of 11th-year head coach Jason Miller, was selected to successfully defend its Ohio Athletic Conference championship this fall and today the Berg has found itself among the nationally ranked. According to a preseason poll released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), Heidelberg ranks 23rd among Division III programs.
Joining Heidelberg in the preseason poll is fellow OAC member Ohio Northern University. ONU is one of seven teams in the national rankings that the Berg is slated to face this year. Six of the seven teams are ranked in the top-10.
A season ago the Berg emerged into the national rankings for the first time midway through the season and never left. Heidelberg climbed as high as 15th in the nation before closing out the year in 22nd.
