Miller Announces 2010 Schedule

Tiffin, Ohio – May 6, 2010 – Head coach Jason Miller has announced the release of the 2010 Heidelberg University volleyball schedule. Heidelberg’s 2010 slate features nine Ohio Athletic Conference matches, eight matches versus nationally ranked foes, along with five home contests in Seiberling Gymnasium.

A season ago the Berg emerged into the national rankings for the first time in the history of the program and closed out the year at 22. Moving into another season the Berg will look to remain among the nationally ranked while defending its OAC Regular Season Championship and will be looking to make a its fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championships.

Assisting with the continued success over the previous 10 seasons as been strong leadership from Miller coupled with a solid schedule. Highlighting the 2010 schedule for the Berg is outings with nationally ranked and OAC contender Ohio Northern University, as well as Calvin College and Hope College. The regular season concludes with meetings with Carthage College, Saint Thomas University, Trinity College and the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, all of which rank in the top-25.

Starting things off for the Berg is a non-conference match at the College of Wooster Sept. 1 before its first tournament of the year at Ohio Northern Sept. 3-4.

Following the ONU Tournament the Berg will travel to Rochester, N.Y. and will look to win the Nazareth College Tournament for the second straight year before its home opener with Defiance College Sept. 14.

A trip to Wittenberg University is on the schedule for the weekend of Sept. 17 with two of the four teams scheduled being Hope and Calvin.

Heidelberg’s OAC slate opens with a home match with Wilmington College Sept. 21 and is followed by a conference road match at Otterbein Sept. 25. While at Otterbein the Berg will face Thomas More.

Sept. 28 OAC foe Capital University visits Seiberling Gymnasium to prepare the Berg to head to the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament to open the month of October.

The middle of October features six OAC outings, with a non-conference match with Bluffton University in the mix. During that stretch the Berg will host Mount Union College Oct. 15 on Alumni Night and Ohio Northern for Senior Night Oct. 26.

Then the Berg heads to Kenosha, Wis. and Carthage for a battle of nationally ranked foes to close out the regular season.
