NEW CONCORD, Ohio—Senior reigning OAC player of the year Jackie Reinhart (New Riegel) had her first career 20-20 game against Case Western Reserve University today with 20 kills and 25 digs and led the No. 8 Heidelberg University volleyball team to a sweep of Muskingum University (25-17, 25-21, 26-24) in an Ohio Athletic Conference match and a 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 26-24, 25-14) against CWRU in a non-conference tilt today on Performance Court in New Concord, Ohio.
The pair of victories improve the Berg to 21-2 overall and 4-0 in the OAC and extend its winning streak to 13 matches.
Against the Fighting Muskies, Reinhart (New Riegel) and freshman libero Tessa Benanzer (Fort Loramie) led a defensive effort that stopped nearly one-third of Muskingum’s 137 total attacks with a dig. Reinhart posted a match-high 24 digs and Benanzer tallied 21 of her own.
A well-rounded offensive effort was led by junior second-team All-OAC outside hitter Marian Bevington (Celina/Parkway), who had a match-high 10 kills and led seven student-athletes from Heidelberg who recorded five or more kills.
Sophomore setter Alexa Frank (Tiffin/Calvert) and junior setter Rachel Ferguson (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) guided the attack with a team-high 17 assists and 15 assists, respectively.
Senior second-team All-OAC outside hitter Venessa Haase (Miamisburg), who etched seven kills, also had five service aces and has eight over her last three matches.
Muskingum was led offensively by Lauren Tillis with nine kills and defensively by Kim Seitter with 19 digs.
In addition to tallying 20 kills and 25 digs against the Spartans, Reinhart also recorded four service aces and three total blocks. Haase also had a double-double with 10 kills and 19 digs. Ferguson had a team-high 30 assists.
Benanzer and Ferguson also had double-digit digs, with 19 and 10, respectively.
Heidelberg will look to extend its winning streak to 14 matches when it travels to Berea on Tuesday, Oct. 11 for an OAC match with Baldwin-Wallace College at 7 p.m.
