COLUMBUS – At the Ohio Athletic Conference softball tournament hosted by Capital University, the league announced their postseason awards. Centerfielder Jami Wagner (New Riegel) was named All-OAC Second Team and second baseman Lisa Simmons (Westerville/North) was named an honorable mention.
Wagner, who was named Capital One Academic All-District First Team selection on Thursday, led the OAC with 23 stolen bases. She hit an even .400 for the season and swatted a career-high five triples. A junior, Wagner has tied the career stolen bases record held by Seka Lewis with 61. In addition, Wagner is on pace to set new career marks for hits, runs, triples and at bats.
Wagner received the same award after the 2012 campaign.
Simmons was a key bat in the middle of head coach Betsy Hada’s lineup. Simmons batted .350 in her freshman season. She belted a team-high 10 doubles and knocked in 18 runs.
“Jami and Lisa are fierce competitors,” said Hada. “They are both well deserving on this honor.”
The All-OAC teams are voted on by the league’s head coaches.
