Wagner,an early childhood education major, boasts a 3.95 GPA. The centerfielder led the OAC with 23 stolen bases. Wagner, a junior, has stolen 61 bases over her career, tying Seka Lewis '01 atop the record book. Wagner is on pace to set new career marks for hits, runs, triples and at bats.
"I'm very proud of Jami and Ali," said fifth-year head coach Betsy Hada '01. "They are shining examples of the spirit of Division III athletics."
Sayre and Wagner are the first Academic All-District First Team selections for Heidelberg since Jenny Coletta won the honor in 2005 and 2006. In 1998, Susan Oliver and Kerry Kennelty were first team selections. Jennifer Lobenstein was the first 'Berg honoree in 1990.
Academic All-District teams are voted upon by the Sports Information Directors in each CoSIDA region and the Academic All-America national committee. Region VII includes all Division III schools in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
The Capital One Academic All-America teams will be announced on May 21.
