Pinkelman Rewarded for her Week of Accolades

Austintown, Ohio – April 18, 2011 – For the second time this season, junior Lexie Pinkelman (Metamora, Ohio / Evergreen) of the Heidelberg University softball team has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week. She also earned this honor for the week of March 14 and now has two OAC Pitcher of the Week honors for her career.

Pinkelman not only went 2-1 with an earned run average of 1.67 with 27 strikeouts, she also etched her name into Heidelberg’s record books. She struck out her 92nd batter of the season, breaking the single season record previously held by Kerry Kennelty (1996) and Katie Allenspach (2008), who each had 69.

Pinkelman also joined the exclusive no-hitters club with her performance against Oberlin College, marking the fifth player to ever earn this feat at the Berg. Not to be outdone, Pinkelman’s win yesterday against OAC foe Marietta College earned her 12th victory on the season, which ties for first all-time in a single season with Heather Dielber (1996) and Dana Thoms (2010).
