Davis and Yoder Sweep OAC Weekly Honors

Austintown, Ohio – April 11, 2011 – The Heidelberg University men’s track and field teams have swept the Ohio Athletic Conference weekly honors for the week of April 11. Sophomore high jumper Nate Davis (Dayton, Ohio / Stivers) and junior hurdler Joe Yoder (West Liberty, Ohio / West Liberty Salem) were tabbed OAC Men’s Field and Track Athlete of the Week, respectively.

This marks Davis' second track and field honor of his career. He was rewarded just two weeks ago for the week of March 28. For Yoder, this marks his third weekly conference honor. He received track (hurdles) and field (decathlon) athlete of the week honors, both during his freshman campaign.

Over the weekend, Davis and Yoder guided the Berg to a third place finish at the Marv Frye Invitational.

Davis brought home two titles for the second straight week. He cleared 6’8” in the high jump for first place and leaped 22’8.5” in the long jump to claim the top spot. His mark in the high jump is a provisional qualifying mark for the 2011 NCAA Division III Championships, which he cleared last week as well.

Yoder took home third place in the 110 meter hurdles (14.95) and 400 meter hurdles (53.24). His time in the 400 also earned Yoder a provisional mark.

Yoder was also part of the 4x400 meter relay team that earned second at 3:22.38.
