'Berg Earns Third at Marv Frye Invite

Delaware, Ohio – April 9, 2011 – The Heidelberg University men’s track and field team was paced by four first-place finishes en route to a third place finish at the annual Marv Frye Invitational, held on Saturday at Selby Field and the George Gautheir Track. The event was hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. Heidelberg’s first place finishes led the way to its 99 points.

Bringing home two titles for the second straight week was Nate Davis (Dayton, Ohio / Stivers). He cleared 6’8” in the high jump for first place and leaped 22’8.5” in the long jump to claim the top spot. His mark in the high jump is a provisional qualifying mark for the 2011 NCAA Division III Championships, which he cleared last week as well.

Joe Yoder (West Liberty, Ohio / West Liberty Salem) took home third place in the 110 meter hurdles (14.95) and 400 meter hurdles (53.24). His time in the 400 earned Yoder a provisional mark.

Terrence Horton (Pickerington, Ohio /Pickerington) earned first place in the 400 meter dash at 48.99, only .49 seconds off from a provisional time.

Rounding out the first place winners was Josh Bowmar (Marengo, Ohio / Highland) who topped the javelin field with a throw of 180’7”.

Yoder was also part of the quintet of Jamil Boldian (Chicago, Ill. / Urban Youth), Wes Hendricks(Beavercreek, Ohio / Beavercreek) and Horton that earned second in the 4x400 meter relay (3:22.38).

Also making an impact was the 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Gibril Kamara (Westerville, Ohio / Central), Boldian, Larry Massey (Royal Oak, Mich. / Wylie E. Groves) and Justin Burnett (Springfield, Ohio / Northwestern). They crossed the finish line at 43.03 for a second place finish.

Kamara added a third place finish in the 100 meter dash (11:20) and second in the 200 (22.44).
