Alliance, Ohio – March 5, 2011 – A handful of members of the Heidelberg University men’s and women’s track and field team took part in the Mount Union Last Chance Meet today hosted by the University of Mount Union. Today marked the final outing for the Berg prior to the 2011 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships on March 11-12 at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio.
Sophomore Joe Yoder (West Liberty, Ohio / West Liberty Salem) earned first in pentathlon and improves his provisional mark to 3506 points. In the five-event competition, Yoder earned first in high jump (6’4”), shot put (37’5.75”), and 1,000 meter run (2.43.72). He also took second in 55 meter hurdles (8.18) and third long jump (19’6”).
Also competing and earning first place was senior Seth Robertson (Burton, Ohio / Newbury) who clocked in at 50.59 in the 400 meter dash.
Sophomore Marian Bevington (Celina, Ohio / Parkway) earned first in long jump with a leap of 17’11.75”. This marks the fifth time this year that Bevington has provisionally qualified in this event.
Also placing first was senior Alexis Goodman (Tiffin, Ohio / Columbian) who crossed the finish line at 7.53 in the 55 meter dash.
