Berea, Ohio – May 29, 2010 – The Heidelberg University’s outdoor track and field team, under the guidance of second-year head coach Keith Roberts Jr., concluded its events at the Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College.

Freshman Nate Davis (Dayton, Ohio / Stivers School for the Arts) competed in the men’s long jump. Davis is only the second high jumper to nationally qualifier for the Berg (Darren Nelson, 2000).

Though Davis did not qualify for the finals, he has made an immediate impact in his first-year of competing.

During the season, he broke the school record twice in high jump with leaps of 6’9.5” and 6’10.25” which also ranks second in the Ohio Athletic Conference. He earned All-OAC first team.

Overall, Heidelberg had two athletes earning All-American honors. Senior Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria) earned sixth place in long jump (23’4.5) which marks his second All-American honors in his career. Earning her first All-American honors was freshman long jumper Marian Bevington (Celina, Ohio / Parkway). Bevington’s leap of 18’04” earned her eighth place. She is the first woman long jumper in Heidelberg’s history to earn All-American.
