March 6, 2010 – Alliance, Ohio – The Heidelberg University men’s and women’s track and field teams participated on Friday at Mount Union College.
Freshman Marian Bevington (Celina, Ohio / Parkway) set a school record in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.54. Tomika Brown previously held the record at 8.55.
Bevington placed second in the meet which included topping 2010 OAC Champion Sarah Petraitis who is ranked 22 in the nation. The freshman hurdler was just ousted by Brittany Brown of Thiel College who is ranked 17th in the nation. Bevington just missed the national qualifying team in hurdles by a hundredth of a second.
Senior sprinter Jamie Depinet (New Riegel, Ohio / New Riegel) earned a second place finish in the 400 meter with a time of 59.63.
For the men, senior Mark Childs (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany) earned a second place finish in the 800 meter, crossing the finish line at 1:57.10. Senior Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria) took second in the long jump (6.54m).
Rounding out for the men was freshman Josh Lynch (Dayton, Ohio / Meadowdale)who posted 2.00 meters in high jump matching his personal best for a second place finish.
