Men's Tennis Gets Back on Winning Track

Tiffin, Ohio – April 30, 2010 – The Heidelberg University men’s tennis team got back on the winning track with a 7-2 victory over Capital University in its 2010-11 regular season finale at the Heidelberg Tennis Courts. The win snapped a three-match slide for the Berg who improves to 8-10 overall and 4-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Crusaders fall to 3-15, 2-6.

Heidelberg swept doubles play to lay a solid foundation for singles action. At first doubles Bobby Lochotzki (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor) and Cliff Goetz (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor) won by a score of 8-4. Also winning 8-4 was Patrick Ryan Earl (Madison, Ohio / Madison) and Zachary Schwenning (Barberton, Ohio / Barberton) at second doubles. Finally, Dorion Kempf (Galion, Ohio / Galion) and Matthew McDivitt (Cortland, Ohio / Lakeview) closed out the scoring in doubles play with an 8-2 win in the third spot.

In singles play, Heidelberg won four of the six matches. Winning in straight sets was Schwenning (6-4, 6-1) at fourth singles followed by Dylan Booth (Westerville, Ohio / Central) (6-1, 6-2) and Miles Yetter (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) (6-3, 6-4) at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.

Closing out the Berg victors was Goetz. He dropped his first set 6-3, but rebounded with a 6-2 and a 6-0 win to take the match at second singles.
