Tiffin, Ohio – April 9, 2011 – The Heidelberg University men’s tennis team swept doubles play to set the stage for a 9-0 victory over Wilmington College in an Ohio Athletic Conference match up at the Heidelberg Tennis Courts this afternoon.
The day started with an 8-2 Heidelberg win at first doubles by the duo of Bobby Lochotzki (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor) and Cliff Goetz (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor). In the second doubles spot Zachary Schwenning (Barberton, Ohio / Barberton) and Patrick Ryan Earl (Madison, Ohio / Madison) won 8-1. Rounding out the ’Berg victors in doubles play was Matthew McDivitt (Cortland, Ohio / Cortland) and Dorion Kempf (Galion, Ohio / Galion) with an 8-4 win in the third spot.
Heidelberg won all six singles matches in straight sets. Schwenning and Miles Yetter (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) blanked their opponents at fourth and sixth singles, respectively.
Lochotzki won 6-4, 6-0 at first singles followed by a 6-1, 6-1 win by Goetz at second singles. Posting a 6-2, 6-0 win in the third singles position was Earl.
Rounding out the scoring on the day was Dylan Booth (Westerville, Ohio / Central) with a 6-0, 6-1 win at fifth singles.
