'Berg Tops Muskies 8-1

New Concord, Ohio – April 5, 2011 – The Heidelberg University men’s tennis team returned to the win column with an 8-1 victory over Ohio Athletic Conference foe Muskingum University. The Berg improves to 6-5 overall and 1-1 in the OAC, while the Muskies drop to 1-5 and 0-2 in conference play.

Heidelberg was impressive in singles competition, winning five of the six matches with all in two sets.

Bobby Lochotzki (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor) (6-3, 6-1) won in first singles followed by Muskingum winning its lone match of the day. Patrick Ryan Earl (Madison, Ohio / Madison) topped his opponent, 6-4, 6-2, in the third single spot. Victorious at fourth singles was Zachary Schwenning (Barberton, Ohio / Barberton) (6-0, 6-4).

Improving to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference was Dylan Booth (Westerville Central / Westerville, Ohio) after posting a 6-0, 6-1 win at fifth singles, followed by Miles Yetter (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) (7-5, 6-1) rounding out the winners for the Berg at the sixth single spot. Yetter now boasts a team-best 8-1 (2-0 OAC) record.

Heidelberg continued its winnings way in doubles with 9-8 (8-6) and 8-1 victories at first and second doubles, respectively. Lochotzki and Goetz teamed up in the first double spot, while Schwenning and Earl won at second doubles which brings their total to a team-best 7-4 (2-0 OAC) record.

Dorion Kempf (Galion, Ohio / Galion) and Matthew McDivitt (Cortland, Ohio / Lakeview) finished the day with a win at the third and final doubles, winning 8-4.
