Men's Tennis Tops Host Defiance

Defiance, Ohio  - March 29, 2011 - Paced by straight set wins in five singles matches the Heidelberg University men's tennis team posted a 7-2 non-conference victory over host Defiance College this afternoon. The win improved the Berg to 5-4 on the year.

Heidelberg was victorious in second through sixth singles led by Dylan Booth's (Westerville, Ohio / Central) 6-0, 6-0 win in the fifth spot. Winning 6-0, 6-1 was Zachary Schwenning (Barberton, Ohio / Barberton) and Miles Yetter (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) at fourth and sixth singles, respectively.

Rounding out the winners in singles play was Cliff Geotz (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor) and Patrick Ryan Earl (Madison, Ohio / Madison). Goetz won 7-6, 6-1 at number two singles, while Earl won 6-2, 6-2 in the third singles spot.

Heidelberg won two of three doubles matches to open the day. Early and Schwenning teamed up to blank its opponents at second doubles and Dorion Kempf (Galion, Ohio / Galion) and Matthew McDivitt (Cortland, Ohio / Lakeview) won 8-5 at third doubles.
