Austintown, Ohio - May 19, 2010 – Heidelberg University sophomore wrestler Tom D'Alessandro has been named to the men’s At-Large Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team, while junior men’s tennis player Dylan Booth (Westerville, Ohio / Central), junior wrestler Brad Rice (West Jefferson, Ohio / West Jefferson) and sophomore wrestler Cory Martinson (Brunswick, Ohio / St. Edwards) have been named to the Honorable Mention list.
The men’s at-large team consists of student-athletes from the sports of wrestling, golf, swimming and diving and tennis. To be eligible a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least his second year of participation in the sport. The award winners are selected by the OAC faculty athletic representatives.
D’Alessandro is a physics major, while cumulating a 3.57 GPA. On the mat, he posted a 21-9 overall record and was 12-3 in the OAC.
Majoring in political science, while earning a 3.89 GPA is Dylan Booth. On the court, Booth earned a 7-8 record in singles and a team-best doubles record with partner Bradley Cerveny (North Royalton, Ohio / North Royalton) of 5-3.
Rounding out the men’s At-Large Academic All-OAC honorable mention lists are wrestlers Rice and Martinson. Rice is studying education and has a 3.59 GPA, while Martinson boasts a 4.00 GPA in pre-law. On the mat, Rice went 15-10 overall, 11-5 in the conference, while Martinson posted a 18-10 overall record and 13-6 OAC record.
