Austintown, Ohio – March 22, 2010 – Heidelberg University junior Dylan Booth (Westerville, Ohio / Central) of the men’s tennis team has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference’s Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 22, 2010. It is the second honor of his career.
For the week of March 22 Booth is one of four honorees from the Berg. Picking up softball hitter of the week honors was senior third baseman Andrea Gerdeman (Ottawa, Ohio / Ottawa-Glandorf), while junior Andy Lowe (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Carroll) was tabbed the baseball pitcher of the week. Finally sophomore Kayla Gerber (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde) secured a ’Berg tennis sweep, claiming the women’s player of the week honor.
In 5-4 victory at Adrian College on Wednesday, Booth was the deciding match victory. At fourth singles Booth opened with a 6-4 win in set one before falling 5-7 in the second set. He battled back for the win with a 7-5 victory in set three. The win was his third in his last four outing to improve to 3-2 on the year.
In doubles action at Adrian, Booth teamed up with Bradley Cerveny (North Royalton, Ohio / North Royalton) for an 8-4 triumph at third doubles. The win for the duo was its second in three outings.
Heidelberg has won two of its last three matches to stand at 2-5 on the year.
