Oberlin, Ohio – February 25, 2010 – The Heidelberg University men’s tennis team traveled today to take on nonconference opponents the Oberlin Yeoman this evening. The Berg falls to 0-3 on the year after being defeated 8-1. Oberlin improves their overall record to 2-3 with the win.
Taking the solo win for the Berg was freshman Cliff Goetz (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor) at third singles defeating Oberlin’s Joe Leffler. After pushing the first set into a, 7-6 (7-5), tiebreaker Goetz kept the lead into the second set where he finished strong winning it, 6-3.
The doubles team of Patrick-Ryan Earl (Madison, Ohio / Madison) and Miles Yetter (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) put up a fight at second doubles falling to the Yeoman duo, 8-5.
The Berg gets set to travel to Hilton Head, S.C. for their spring break matches which will start Sunday, March 6, against Emory & Henry.
