Men's Tennis Falls to Oberlin

The Heidelberg University men’s tennis team traveled to Oberlin, Ohio to continue the spring portion of the 2012-13 schedule.

The Heidelberg men entered the match 0-1 in spring action, having lost to Adrian College on Sunday, February 17, 2013.

Against Oberlin, it was seniors Zach Schwenning (Barberton) and Matt McDivitt (Cortland/Lakeview) performing well for the Student Princes, despite neither of them collected a win.

Schwenning took the first set from his Oberlin counterpart, 6-4, but dropped the second set, 4-6 forcing a third set tiebreaker.

Schwenning would lose the tiebreaker, 10-3.

McDivitt, competed as the number four and took on Oberlin’s Soren Zeliger. The first set went to the Yeoman, 6-2. McDivitt managed to take three games from Zeliger in the second set, but the Student Princes still fell, 6-3.

The Berg men fell 9-0 to the Yeomen overall.

The Heidelberg women’s tennis squad did not compete against Oberlin, but also dropped their first contest of the spring against Adrian 7-2, on Sunday, February 17.

The Heidelberg men’s tennis team will return to the court on Thrusday, February 21, when they travel to Delaware, Ohio and Ohio Wesleyan University. Action between the Battling Bishops and the Student Princes is slated for 4:00 p.m.

The Heidelberg women will take a week off from competition and return against the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday, February 26. The match is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. from Delaware, Ohio.
