'Berg Men's Soccer Falls to John Carroll in OAC Match in Tiffin

 TIFFIN, Ohio—Senior Luke Terndrup (Columbus/Bishop Ready) made five saves tonight in his first start in goal of the season, but the Heidelberg University men’s soccer team fell to John Carroll University, 2-0, through driving rain in an Ohio Athletic Conference match at Mayer Field in Tiffin, Ohio. The match was broadcast on the ‘Berg Athletics Network (http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/heidelberg.portal#) and an archived recording will be available.

The loss drops the Student Princes to 2-9-4 overall and 0-5-1 in the OAC. The Blue Streaks move to 10-5-0 overall and 5-0-0 in the OAC.

Despite rain-soaked field conditions, both teams combined for 11 shots in the opening half, with JCU holding a slight 6-5 advantage.

Terndrup made two saves in the first period.

The Blue Streaks took a 1-0 lead in the 60th minute when Mariusz Trzeciak received a pass from the left side from Alex Petro and put a well-placed shot into the lower right corner of the goal.

Kevin McKamish increased JCU’s lead to 2-0 in the 71st minute with an unassisted goal.

Senior midfielder Michael Juart (Hilliard/Darby) paced the ‘Berg offensive attack with five shots, including four on frame.

In goal, Terndrup faced seven shots in 90 minutes of action.

JCU outshot Heidelberg, 16-10, and both teams lined up for six corner kicks.

The Berg returns to the pitch Saturday, Oct. 22 when it hosts Marietta College in an OAC match in its final home game of the season. Kickoff from Hidden Valley is slated for 4 p.m.
