Heidelberg Men's Soccer Team Opens OAC Play With Tie at Capital

BEXLEY, Ohio—The Heidelberg University men’s soccer team opened Ohio Athletic Conference play today by tying Capital University, 0-0, at Bernlohr Stadium in Bexley, Ohio. Junior two-time All-OAC keeper Ryan Smith (Roanoke, Texas/Keller) made a season-high 12 saves in the effort.

The tie makes the Student Princes 2-4-4 overall and 0-0-1 in the OAC. Capital is now 5-3-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the OAC.

Smith faced 27 Crusader shots in 110 minutes of action, while the Berg defense successfully defended against 12 corner kicks.

On offense, freshman midfielder Nicholas Samaniego (Huron) tallied a team-high three shots.
