'Berg Wins Second-Straight

Meadville, Pa. – September 11, 2010 – Senior Cory Buhrman’s (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) late goal earns the Heidelberg University men’s soccer team a 1-0 victory over Allegheny College.

The Berg improves to 3-1 overall, while the Gators drop to 3-2 on the year.

Through the first 78 minutes of the game, both team battled for scoring opportunities.

Heidelberg capitalized on an opportunity in the 79th minute when Cory Buhrman scored from inside the box off a deflection from one of the Allegheny’s defenders. The score marks Buhrman’s first of the season.

Allegheny had only one chance in the 87th minute, but it was denied by Heidelberg's goalie sophomore Mike Kenny (Rocky River, Ohio / Rocky River).

On the offensive side for the Berg, junior Mike Harling (Manchester, England / Holy Cross) had a game-high four shots.

Also earning a shot was junior Michael Juart (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Darby), freshman Matt Paquette (Houston, Texas / Katy), sophomore Cole Tonti (Columbus, Ohio / St. Francis de Sales), and senior Gavin McCarthy (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Darby), while McCarthy had one on goal.

Heidelberg's Mike Kenny earns his second-straight shutout, while earning one save.

The Berg’s defense played an imperative part in the win led by senior Greg Acuna (Findlay, Ohio / Findlay) and Jon Kijowski (Norwalk, Ohio / Norwalk).
