Albion, Mich. – September 4, 2010 - Despite outshooting Albion College, the Heidelberg University men’s soccer team dropped to the Britons with a score 1-0. Both teams go to 1-1 on the year.
Albion did not waste any time getting on the board. In the two minute mark, Eric Clark found Jimmy Nieman at the top of box who placed the ball in the back of the net, giving the Britons the 1-0 lead.
Even though the Berg outshot Albion 12-7 for the game, they were unable to score giving Albion's Justin Fragnoli his first collegiate shutout.
Offensively for Heidelberg, junior Mike Harling (Manchester, England / Holy Cross) had a game-leading four shots including one on goal. Junior Michael Juart (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Darby) earned three shots with one on goal, while freshman Christian Walter (Bay Village, Ohio / Bay Village) led the team with two shots on goal. Also contributing with two shots was senior Cory Buhrman (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick).
Goalie Ryan Smith (Roanoke, Texas / Keller) gathered in three saves.
Heidelberg looks to get back in the win column when it continues its three-game road trip to Grove City College on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 4:00 p.m.
