'Berg Drops Physical Match to the Crusaders

Bexley, Ohio – October 28, 2009 – The Heidelberg University men’s soccer team was defeated by Capital University with the score of 1-0. The Berg drops to 8-7-2 overall, 3-4-1 in the OAC, while the Crusaders improve to 14-4-1, 6-1-1 in the OAC.

For the first 30 minutes of play, neither team could find the back of the net. This was due to both squads’ exceptional defense.

However, in the 34th minute, Capital managed to score when Daniel McCarthy connected with Cory Trump off a corner kick, which then Trump placed a header for the lone goal of the game.

Leading for the Berg was Cory Buhrman (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) and Killian Riley (Zanesville, Ohio / Zanesville) who each had two shots with two shots on goal. Michael Juart (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Darby) also made an impact on offense with three shots along with a shot on goal.

Heidelberg’s goal keeper Ryan Smith (Roanoke, Texas / Keller) accumulated five saves on the day.

Heidelberg returns to action for its last regular season game when they host Mount Union College for an OAC showdown, Saturday October 31, at 7:00 p.m.
