Springfield, Ohio – October 3, 2010 – The Heidelberg University men’s golf team fought their way to a ninth place finish at the Wittenberg Invitational at the Windy Knoll Golf Course in Springfield, Ohio. This two-day Invitational concluded the Berg’s fall schedule.
Host team, Wittenberg University (593) took first place, followed by Adrian College (594) and Otterbein College (596). Heidelberg finished the day shooting a 624.
Leading the way for the Berg were seniors, David Lilly (Greencastle, Ind. / Greencastle) and Zak Markley (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville South) with a tie for tenth place in individual rankings. Both finished the outing with an overall score of 150.
Lilly started strong shooting a 76 on day one, and finished by pulling off a 75 on day two. Markley also showed impressive marks shooting a, 73, in the first round and finishing with a, 77, in the second.
Competing as well for the Berg were Corey Pierson (Troy, Ohio / Troy) (79,81), Sam Arnold (Springfield, Ohio / Kenton Ridge) (84,80) and Brian Cline (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) (86,83).
