Chesterland, Ohio – September 18, 2010 - It was a difficult Saturday for the Heidelberg University men’s golf team at the Ohio Athletic Conference Fall Invitational on September 18th. The tournament was hosted by John Carroll University at Fowlers Mill golf course in Chesterland, Ohio.
The field played a 27-hole tournament, playing a round on the Lake Rive course of Fowler’s Mill followed by nine holes on the Maple course. Heidelberg combined to shoot a 481 to stand eighth in the final standings. The host Blue Streaks claimed the team title after firing a 444.
Leading the way for Heidelberg was David Lilly’s (Greencastle, Ind. / Greencastle) 114 (78, 36), while Zak Markley (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville South) (79, 40) and transfer Brian Cline (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) (83, 36) both shot a 119.
Rounding out the scores for Heidelberg were Cory Pierson (Troy, Ohio / Troy) with a 129 (88, 41) and Kyle Youngblood (Berea, Ohio / Berea) with a 138 (96, 42).
Heidelberg returns to action next weekend at the Mount Union Invite at Tannenhauf Golf Course.
