Three Place in Top-20 at Rose-Hulman Invite

Terre Haute, Ind. – April 3, 2011 – Senior David Lilly (Greencastle, Ind. / Greencastle) paced three top-20 placers for the Heidelberg University men’s golf team at the Rose Hulman Invitational April 2-3. The invitational was played at the par-72 Hulman Links Golf Course in Terre Haute, Ind.

Lilly, along with fellow classmate Zak Markley (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville South) and junior Brian Cline (Mentor, Ohio /Mentor) placed in the top-20 to lead the Berg to a sixth place finish in the team standings. Heidelberg fired a 348 on day one, but regrouped and came back with a 331 in round two to finish at 679. DePauw University won the invitational with a two-day total of 643 (321, 322).

In round one, Lilly fired an 82 and returned with a team-low 79. His 161, 17-over par, stood tied for seventh in the final standings.

Finishing in a tie for 15th was Markley. Markley shot an 83 and 84 to finish at 167. Following closely was Cline with a 169 (89, 80), to finish in a tie for 17th.

Junior Cory Pierson (Troy, Ohio / Troy) and senior Ryan Treese (Delaware, Ohio / Rutherford B. Hayes) rounded out the Berg golfers. Pierson shot a 182 (94, 88) and Treese fired a 199 (98, 101).
