WILMINGTON, Ohio – Seniors Dustin Kuess (Coldwater) and Bobbi Custer (Woodstock/Triad) led the Heidelberg University cross country teams at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Wilmington College. The men's team raced to 7th place finish and the women's team finished 8th.
In the women's 6k race, Custer finished 12th with a time of 24:15. Less than a minute later, Sophie Goobic (Canton, NY/Hugh C. Williams) clocked in at 24:47, good for 26th place.
For the men's 8k race, Kuess came in with a time of 26:19 and finished 16th. Logan Leis (Zanesville/Benjamin Logan) and Brad Palocko (Medina) also finished with times under 27 minutes. Leis finished 25th with a time of 26:34. Palocko finished 35th, finsihing in 26:58.
"We've battled injuries all season long," said head coach Briana Hess. "Faced with such adversity, I'm very pleased with our performance here today."
Mount Union won the men's title and Ohio Northern won the women's title.
On November 10, Wilmington will host the regional championships.
