Holland, Mich. – November 13, 2010 – The Heidelberg University men’s and women’s teams raced in the 2010 Division III Great Lakes Regional tournament on November 13. The tournament was hosted by Hope College in Holland, Mich.
The men’s team finished eighth overall with a point total of 226. The Berg finished behind first place returning champs Calvin College (57), Wabash College (122), Albion College (177), Ohio Wesleyan University (199) and Ohio Northern University (201) to round out the top five.
Junior Jordan Karnes (Edgerton, Ohio / Edgerton) led the way once more after a strong finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships only two weeks ago. Karnes finished sixth overall crossing the finish line in a time of 25:20.1.
Finishing behind Karnes was freshman Logan Leis (Zanesfield, Ohio / Benjamin Logan) in 48th (26:15.6) and John Gogle (Sunbury, Ohio / Big Walnut) in 57th (26:25.3).
The women finished in 24th place with an overall total of 658 points. Finishing in the top five of the women’s division was Calvin College (69), Hope College (103), Case Western University (115), Oberlin College (149) and Ohio Northern University (152).
Freshman Sophie Goobic (Canton, N.Y. / Hugh C. Williams) finished in 84th at a time of 24:09.3. Following Goobic was Bobbi Custer (Woodstock, Ohio / Triad) in 95th (24:07.4) and Jocelyn Staugler (Coldwater, Ohio / Coldwater) (24:13.9).
