Austintown, Ohio – October 12, 2009 – Senior Devin Butcher (Bowling Green, Ohio / Bowling Green) of the Heidelberg University men’s cross country team has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Runner of the Week for the week of October 12, 2009. It is the second runner of the week honor in 2009 for Butcher and it’s his fourth award of his career.
On Saturday Butcher helped guide Heidelberg’s nationally-ranked men’s program to a first place finish at the Pre-Regional Gibson Family Invitational.
In the field of 205 runners, Butcher placed second in the Division III individual championship and sixth out of all Divisions, finishing the 8k course in 25:59.8.
Next up for Heidelberg and second-year head coach Keith Roberts Jr. is the OAC Championships hosted by Wilmington College Oct. 31.
