'Berg Competes in Dragon/Berg Invitational

Tiffin, Ohio – September 5, 2009 – The Heidelberg University men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in their second outing on the year. Tiffin University, Lake Erie College, and Owens Community College Club Cross Country also participated. The teams took part in the unscored Dragon/Berg Invitational. The men’s team ran an open 6k, while the women covered a 3k course.
 
Leading the way in the men’s 6k was Jamie Kuess (Coldwater, Ohio / Coldwater) with a fourth place finish in 19:43.00. In his first collegiate race, Dustin Kuess (Coldwater, Ohio / Coldwater) followed his brother Jamie Kuess in 19:52.00 to take sixth place.
 
Also finishing in the top 15 were Seth Wisener (Middle Point, Ohio / Lincolnview ) (20:15.00), Mark Childs (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany) (20:24.00), and Gareth Graver (Enon, Ohio / Greenon) (20:26).

On the women’s side, three of Heidelberg’s runners were making their collegiate debut. Macy McFarland (Huron, Ohio / Huron) led the way for the Berg in 11th place in a time of 12:25.00. Also finishing in the top 15 was Ninette Ruch (Toledo, Ohio / Notre Dame Academy) (12:31.00).
 
Next meet for Heidelberg’s men’s and women’s cross country team will be next Saturday, September 12 when they travel to Bowling Green, Ohio to compete in the Mel Brodt Invite at 2:00 p.m.
