Columbus, Ohio – April 21, 2010 – The 2009-10 season may be in the books for seniors Josh Calver (Shelby, Ohio / Shelby) and Travis Kinn (Alvada, Ohio / New Reigel), but the duo returned to the hardwood over the weekend for a final chance to represent Heidelberg University. Calver and Kinn took part in the second annual Ohio College All-Star Classic. The Classic took place on April 18 at the Alumni Hall, on the campus of Ohio Domincan University, in Columbus, Ohio.
The classic featured Ohio’s top college seniors. The day began with a youth basketball clinic followed by a high school boy’s all-star game. Calver and Kinn took part in the men’s small college all-star game, which included seniors from Ohio NCAA Division II, III and NAIA colleges and universities. Heidelberg head coach Anthony Gholson served as the head coach of the north team for the small college all-star game. The day concluded with a men’s Division I all-star game.
The classic was sponsored by Johnny Clark and Jump 25 Basketball. Clark is the founder and director of Jump 25 Basketball and he created the all-star basketball event so elite college seniors in Ohio can have an all-star game to participate in to culminate their collegiate careers. It also gives deserving high school seniors another game to take part in as an alternative to others.
Calver and Kinn were two of five players from the Ohio Athletic Conference. They were joined on the north team by Ohio Northern University’s Kyle Meyer. The trio, along with Gholson, led the north team to an 89-75 victory. Calver finished with 21 points and was runner-up in the Most Valuable Player voting to teammate Meyer. Finishing with seven points was Kinn.
