TIFFIN – Faculty Appreciation Day will kick off a series of special events that will accompany the highly anticipated 2013 Heidelberg University football season.
Prior to the 1:30 p.m. kickoff against Alma on September 7, Heidelberg Athletics will host a cookout behind Saurwein Health & Wellness Center for Heidelberg faculty and their family. Faculty present will be recognized at halftime with an on-field presentation. To RSVP, faculty should email Cindy Paul.
The Alma game is also Tiffin Little League Football Day. Members of each TLLF team will be introduced at halftime. Tickets for TLLF parents are buy-one get-one free and children are admitted free.
After a bye week, the Student Princes welcome Ohio Northern on September 21 for Fellows Day and the third annual Bendekovic Bowl. After members of the Heidelberg Fellows Organization are introduced at halftime, a cookout is provided on the patio behind Saurwein Health & Wellness Center.
The Bendekovic Bowl honors the legacy of Ronnie and Jason Bendekovic. Ronnie was an assistant coach at ONU at the time of his passing in 2005. Jason was on the Heidelberg coaching staff when he passed away in 2010. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
At halftime of the September 28 game against Wilmington, Heidelberg Athletics will hold a ring presentation ceremony for the 2013 wrestling team and Nate Davis. Davis was the 2013 National Champion in high jump in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. The Heidelberg wrestlers won the OAC title in 2013.
Homecoming and Hall of Fame Day will fall on October 12. Homecoming booths and activities will be held prior to the game against Capital. At halftime, the homecoming king and queen will be crowned. Additionally, the newest inductees into the Heidelberg Athletics Hall of Fame – Des Lawless, Jeff Brock, Dale Vernon and the 1991 Women’s Soccer Team – will be acknowledged. The induction ceremony will take place later that evening.
The final home game of the year, a November 2 matchup with Mount Union, will serve as Senior Day. Prior to the game, parents of the seniors will be recognized. At halftime, scholar-athletes from the winter and spring sports will be introduced to the crowd.
All 10 games will be broadcast on WTTF AM-1600 and 93.3 FM and streamed on WTTF.com. Each home game will be broadcast live on WHEI TV-10 in Tiffin and streamed live on the Berg Athletics Network.
Every Thursday throughout the season, The Mike Hallett Show will be aired live from the Fireside Café Pub in the University Commons on WTTF and WTTF.com.
