Miller began his graduate assistant work under head coach Mike Hallett, who coached Miller thourghout his collegiate career. In 2011, year the Heidelberg football team went 8-2 (7-2 OAC).
As a player Miller earned the Bob Packard Award for the most outstanding offensive back in 2010 as well as a first team Athletic All-OAC and first team Academic All_OAC in 2010. That is after he pegged a first team Academic All-OAC in 2009.
Miller currently still holds to OAC records for the most passing yards in a game and the most total yards in a game.
