When a team enjoys as much offensive success as Heidelberg has over the past few years, a lion’s share of the credit is given to the skill players out wide and in the backfield. However, those players are quick to praise the efforts of the offensive linemen, coached by Jason Lewis.
Entering his fifth season with Heidelberg, Lewis has coached five first team All-OAC linemen, including Nate Kater and Quentin Rembert, who won the honor twice. In 2010, Kater was named the recipient of the Ken Wable Outstanding Offensive Lineman of the Year award.
Lewis’ linemen have blocked for an offense which has accumulated over 4,500 yards in each of the past three season, including a program-best 5,178 net yards in 2012.
Lewis graduated from Mount Union in 2007 with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration. While in Alliance, he was a two-time All-OAC First Team honoree, two-time All-American and two-time OAC most outstanding offensive lineman of the year. He was part of two national championship teams for the Purple Raiders.
Lewis received his master's degree in education from Heidelberg in 2011. He currently resides in Tiffin with his fiancée Amanda.
