Class of 1964

“Many Hands, but One Heart for Heidelberg”

Dear Class of 1964,

Members of our Heidelberg class are planning a once-in-a-lifetime event – our 50th class reunion June 20-22, 2014. While all reunions are times of celebration and giving back, 50-year reunions are a special milestone, providing a peak moment for putting the past in perspective and for crystallizing the legacy that each class wishes to leave for the university’s future.

Heidelberg has a long and wonderful tradition of reunion class giving. A 50th Anniversary Class Reunion Gift Committee has been meeting and strategizing about the “legacy” part of this equation. At a working session in September 2013, Gift Committee members learned about the Opportunities and challenges—positive and negative needs facing Heidelberg today.

In recent years, class giving has evolved from funding a specific physical entity to offering a myriad of options to allow each of us to direct our gift to match our individual interests. While the Heidelberg Fund and Fellows contributions will continue to be needed, the Academic Comprehensive Campaign for Excellence (ACCE) is the largest campaign in Heidelberg’s history, gives us the opportunity to expand and enhance academic excellence and the student experience.

Our goals are to maximize the number attending the reunion (64%) and classmates contributing charitable gifts with a participation rate of 64%. It's our chance to "pay it forward" for the education we were offered 50 years ago that gave us a base for our professional and personal lives. The class gift will encompass all gifts since July 1, 2009, including the Heidelberg Fund commitments for ACCE programs, and legacy gifts planned for the future.

Your gift can be crafted by you to meet your interests and financial planning objectives. All gifts will be gratefully received as testimonials to your gratitude and continuing support for the Heidelberg educational experience.

We want to emphasize that every gift is special and makes you a part of the exciting things
happening at Heidelberg. Here's how you can help:
Today - Contribution to the Heidelberg Fund or Fellows
Tomorrow – Structure a contribution to an ACCE initiative
Forever – Remember Heidelberg in your estate plans

Pat Penrod and his committee have planned a memorable weekend of activities. The opportunities to visit and share experiences, as well as the chance to see the many physical transformations taking place on campus will create a meaningful experience for all. The sea of Red, Orange, & Black worn on Saturday’s activities will set our class apart and create a visual camaraderie for all to enjoy.

We look forward to seeing you at the reunion JUNE 20-22, 2014. Please make your plans to come.
