Students must have junior status (or second-semester sophomore standing with strong SAT or ACT scores) and at least four semesters of German, or a high intermediate level of German, if your school is on a term system rather than a semester system. While there is no minimum GPA and all applications are reviewed holistically, the average GPA among recently admitted students has been 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Above all, we are looking for highly motivated students with solid foundation in German, maturity and an earnest motivation to study abroad.
In the German university system, students enjoy a considerable amount of freedom, and therefore it is expected that AJY students come with a readiness to adjust to the demands of a new and different academic environment.
AJY application deadlines:
- April 1 for the Fall semester
- October 1 for the Spring semester

Once the application and the appropriate references have been received, the staff can begin consideration of the application.
