Betsy J. BernardMs. Bernard is an accomplished CEO with proven leadership and communication skills and extensive experience in building and running successful businesses. Rising to the rank of president of AT&T – a company for which she worked for more than 25 years – she led more than 50,000 employees in a $27 billion business that served the needs of 4 million telecommunications consumers. For three consecutive years, she appeared on the Fortune list of the “50 Most Powerful Women in Business.” She also served in senior executive positions at U S West, Pacific Bell and Qwest Communications.

For the past 10 years, Ms. Bernard has served on the boards of directors of major public companies, currently sitting on the boards of Principal Financial Group, Telular and Zimmer Holdings. She also serves on the Silverfern Advisory Board and is a member of the International Women’s Forum.

Ms. Bernard is a sought-after speaker, having given keynote addresses at the global and national levels. Her speech, “Seven Golden Rules of Leadership,” combines insight and humor in her summary of lessons learned during her years in leadership positions.

A New Jersey resident, Ms. Bernard received her bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University, her MBA from Farleigh Dickinson University and a second master’s degree in management from Stanford University’s Sloan Fellowship Program.
