Mathematics and Physics

Work with your professors to create a personalized plan to help you reach your academic ambitions. In the past decade, all of Heidelberg's math majors have either found immediate employment or gone on to graduate school.

The department offers the well-known classes such as geometry, algebra, calculus, and statistics. You will also explore courses you may not have heard of yet:

  • Quantitative Reasoning
  • Mathematical Communication Skills
  • Abstract Algebra
  • Complex Analysis

Having both pure and applied mathematics courses allows students to be competitive in the work force and graduate programs.

“Math is a good major because a lot of the things you do today have a mathematical idea in them. It’s a very flexible major that you can combine it with things like computer science, education, economics. Majoring in math, will open doors for me, because there are not a lot of math majors out there, especially women math majors.”
