Known as "Doc" to most students past and present, Dr. Gary Dickerson is completing his 33rd year here at the Berg. Initially his teaching duties focused on Television and Radio theory and production. However, his education as a communication generalist has paid huge dividends here at Heidelberg since he now teaches mostly rhetoric, public address and persuasion classes.

Off campus, Doc and his wife, Janet, are parents to four sons and grandparents to five active and very young grandchildren. This year he and Janet became football game ushers at his alma mater, The Ohio State University. In his spare time, Doc enjoys playing music with two of his sons and a family friend in a band called the McDickies. Family, Heidelberg and music are the three passions that drive and define him.
