The Chem Club in Chicago.
Heidelberg’s Chemistry Club is part of the American Chemical Society Student Affiliate, chartered in 1949. The Chemistry Club has organized student trips to:
- Chemistry graduate schools
- Science museums
- Chemical companies
- Nuclear power plants
The club has also invited professionals in various fields of chemistry, including forensic science, to visit campus. The group plans fun laboratory experiments, designs displays, and sponsers the occasional bowling night.
This March, four Heidelberg students will be presenting at the National American Chemical Society Conference in Dallas, TX. The students also earned a ACS Travel Grant to attend the conference.
Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)
REU's are great experiences for students who plan to head to graduate school. Over the summer, Heidelberg students work in the research programs of a host institution with a group of undergraduates from across the country. Students works on a specific research project, where they team up with faculty and other researchers.
"After my summer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I knew I wanted to continue into grad school. It's a good thing to experience." Jon Miller '12
