Professor Ilstrup earned his Juris Doctor and Masters degrees from the University of Toledo. His Masters concentration was economic regulation, building upon his Bachelors major. Courses which Professor Ilstrup has taught at Heidelberg include Business Law I and Business Law II, Organizational Behavior, and The Supreme Court and Individual Rights. Professor Ilstrup has practiced law for more than twenty years, having previously served as in-house counsel with Toledo Edison and with a medical practice group consisting of more than two dozen physicians. He has most recently been in private, solo practice for the past decade. In addition to teaching at Heidelberg, Professor Ilstrup has also taught at a number of other area colleges in areas involving law and government, as well as business and economics. Professor Ilstrup is also an elected public official, serving as a member of the Board of Education for Washington Local Schools, a 6,500 student “local” school district in Northwest Ohio since 2004.
